How do I know if someone is experiencing a mental health problem? What are the warning signs and risk factors? How do I approach someone? How can I be supportive?
This course is designed to teach non health professionals to provide first aid help to a person who is developing or experiencing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis is resolved.
Covering: depression, anxiety, psychosis, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non suicidal self injury, panic attacks, traumatic events, severe effects of drug and alcohol use, psychotic states and aggressive behaviours.
The course can be claimed as continuing professional development hours for a number of industries and sectors. A certificate of completion is provided.
