WEDNESDAY day, 20/4 Decorating Easter Eggs - 10.30am Time to start getting those eggs ready. We'll be using a tradtional method which uses onion skins and food dye to colour the eggs in striking patterns. BYO eggs, onion skins and something to share for lunch. Venue: Please email for details WEDNESDAY night, 20/4 - 7pm Service of the Blessing of the Oils This is a prayer service in commemoration of the woman who anointed Jesus' body with oil. Traditionally, oil is blessed on this night and everyone comes forward to receive some and take some home. It is a night of healing of soul and body and the prayers are infused with the imminence of Christ's arrest and death. BYO small bottle for oil. Venue: The cabin at Gembrook Retreat, 215 Beenak east Rd, Gembrook- THURSDAY night, 21/4 - 7.30pm Service of the Passion of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (The Service of the Twelve Passion Gospel stories) This begins the events of Good Friday starting with the Last Supper, the Betrayal, the Arrest and the Passion itself. It is a suitably sombre service, yet still filled with beautiful prayers, centered around the paradox of the death of the Creator of the world. Venue: Good Shepherd Orthodox Church, Religious Centre, Monash Uni- FRIDAY night, 22/4 - 9pm-7am Good Friday vigil We are pleased to open our home for anyone who would like to drop in for all or part of an all-night vigil. An ancient practice is to have an icon of Christ buried in a small wooden funeral bier decorated with flowers. We'll have our own one set up in a candle-lit room with prayer books and a Bible. Refreshments (caffeine and sugar!) will be provided in the kitchen. It'll be a matter of come when you like, leave as you please, anytime. Venue: Please email for details SATURDAY night, 23/4 - 10pm Easter (Pascha) Service What we've been waiting for- the Resurrection of our Lord. This includes the joyful resurrection prayers and a full liturgy. Bring something nice to share for after. Venue: Good Shepherd Orthodox Church, Religious Centre, Monash Uni- 10pm-late, really late!
